Please join with us in the prayers of the people. When you hear the words, "We pray to our God", please sing the response "O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: when I call answer me. O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: come and listen to me."
Creator God: We thank you for the gift of your Creation and ask your help in
making our leaders and heads of corporations aware of the fragile nature of our
world. We pray for all who suffer from natural disasters as well as those created
by greed that have resulted in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, mining tragedies,
pollution from our tar sands, heavy industry, and agribusinesses.
We pray to our God... "O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: when I call answer me. O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: come and listen to me."
Journeying God: We ask your blessing and grace for all who travel and ask
for their safe return to their homes. We pray for the people of Haiti as they
continue their struggle to survive and rebuild their country. We pray for our sisters
and brothers of Nyanyadzi Methodist Church in Zimbabwe as they endeavour to live
faithful lives during continuing change in their strife-torn country. In our presbytery
prayer cycle, we pray for Hilary Bitten and the congregation of Robertson Memorial
United Church in Nakusp. In the World Council of Churches prayer cycle we pray for
the peoples of Angola and Mozambique. We pray for our Making Connections
Partners: Rapid City and Area PC in Manitoba and Riverport PC in Nova Scotia
We pray to our God..."O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: when I call answer me. O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: come and listen to me."
Compassionate God: We share your concern for the poor, the oppressed, and the
marginalized. We ask for wisdom to know how to help as well as courage and
fortitude to act on their behalf. We pray for people everywhere who need your
healing presence: Peace Makers and Peace Keepers serving throughout the world
and members of our Canadian Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan. We offer our
prayers for all those named on our Prayer List as well as
others whom we name aloud or in the silence of our hearts... ...
We pray to our God..."O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: when I call answer me. O God, hear my prayer, O God, hear my prayer: come and listen to me."
Omnipotent God: As we continue our journey after Pentecost, we ask your blessing
on our re-imagining team as they strive to discern our future in the twenty-first
century. Inspire our creativity and help us to be the welcoming people we want to be.
We join with Henri Nouwen and pray:
Dear God give (us) the courage to live and work for a new heaven and a new earth
as Jesus did. Give (us) the freedom to be critical where (w)e see evil and to offer
praises where (we) see good. Most of all make (us) faithful to the vision you have
given us, so that wherever (we) go and whomever (we) meet, (we) can be a sign of
your all-renewing love.
...and the people say "Amen!"
