Outreach
Following Jesus' example of social activism, the Outreach Ministry of Nelson United Church is dedicated to affirm the worth and integrity of all creation by:
- standing in solidarity with marginalized and oppressed people without regard to race, creed, gender or sexual orientation;
- educating ourselves and community about issues of social justice, peace and the environment
- offering opportunities to participate in effecting change in our world;
- nurturing the emerging spirit of new life and hope in our world
There are many opportunities to be involved; you could join the Outreach Committee or get involved in a project; please phone the church office or speak with Christine. |

Outreach Opportunities
Outreach, which is a ministry of care, education and action, happens in a variety of ways both individually and collectively as a community of faith; this ministry addresses both local and global concerns.
Locally, the GAY PRIDE PARADE and AIDS WALK in September, and the WORLD FOOD DAY (October 16th) are examples of events supported by Nelson United Church.
Our overarching theme for Outreach Education and Action from 2007 to now has been PEACE in support of the United Church of Canada's "United For Peace" campaign. We have begun to explore new outreach theme and action project for 2010. Anyone interested in offering some time, energy and involvement in "Outreach" please contact the church office or email Christine.
