How to Add Custom Songs to Guitar Hero III on PC

How to Add Custom Songs to Guitar Hero III on PC

If you love playing Guitar Hero III on your PC, but you want to spice up your song list with some custom tracks, this article will show you how to do it. You will need a program called Song List Editor, which allows you to add not only your own songs, but also songs from Frets On Fire (FOF), a free open-source music game. You will also need a chart file or a MIDI file for the guitar notes of each song you want to add. Here are the steps to follow:

Guitar Hero Song List Editor Download

  • Download Song List Editor from this link and extract it to a location on your PC.

  • Run songlist_editor.exe. The program will load a command window in the background where information about what the program is doing will be displayed.

  • Go to File -> Open and select your Guitar Hero III installation folder.

  • To add your own song, you will need an MP3 or OGG file of the song and a chart file or a MIDI file for the guitar notes. You can find thousands of chart files for songs at ScoreHero.com. Just register for free and search for the song you want. Download the chart file and save it to a location on your PC.

  • Use Chart2Mid2Chart.zip by Leff to convert the chart file to a MIDI file. You can download it from this link. Extract it to a location on your PC and run Chart2Mid.exe. Drag and drop the chart file onto the program window and it will generate a MIDI file in the same folder.

  • In Song List Editor, click Add Song and fill in the details for your song. Browse for the MP3 or OGG file and the MIDI file. You can also change the song name, artist name, album name, year, genre, difficulty levels, etc.

  • Click OK and your song will be added to the list. You can repeat this process for any other songs you want to add.

  • To add songs from Frets On Fire, you can download them from this link. Each song pack contains several songs in FOF format. Extract them to a location on your PC and use Song List Editor to add them. Just click Add FOF Songs and browse for the folder where you extracted the songs. The program will automatically detect them and add them to the list.

  • When you are done adding songs, click Save and then Apply Changes. The program will copy the songs to your Guitar Hero III installation folder and update the game files.

  • Launch Guitar Hero III and enjoy your custom songs!

Note: Adding custom songs will corrupt your save game file, so make sure you back it up before doing this. Also, some custom songs may not work properly or cause glitches in the game, so use them at your own risk.Tips and Tricks for Playing Custom Songs on Guitar Hero III

Now that you have added some custom songs to your Guitar Hero III game, you may want to know some tips and tricks to make the most out of them. Here are some suggestions:

  • If you want to play a custom song in multiplayer mode, make sure both players have the same song in their game folders. Otherwise, the game will crash or show an error message.

  • If you want to play a custom song in career mode, you can use Song List Editor to replace an existing song with a custom one. Just select the song you want to replace and click Edit Song. Then browse for the custom song files and click OK. The original song will be overwritten by the custom one.

  • If you want to edit the details of a custom song, such as the name, artist, album, etc., you can use Song List Editor to do so. Just select the song and click Edit Song. Then change the information as you wish and click OK.

  • If you want to delete a custom song from your game, you can use Song List Editor to do so. Just select the song and click Delete Song. The song will be removed from your game folder and the list.

  • If you want to backup your custom songs or transfer them to another PC, you can use Song List Editor to do so. Just select the songs you want and click Export Songs. The program will create a ZIP file containing the songs and their files. You can then copy the ZIP file to another location or PC and use Song List Editor to import them.

For thousands of years, First Nations people have walked on this land; their relationship with the land is at the centre of their lives and spirituality. We acknowledge that the land on which Nelson United Church gathers is the traditional territories of the Sinixt and the Ktunaxa peoples and is home to many diverse indigenous persons, including the Métis. We acknowledge the injustices that indigenous people have faced and continue to face today. We commit to reconciliation, together, as children of the creator.
